Senior Mode on BluSmart — inclusivity in cab apps.

A WCAG-led mode within BluSmart's ride-hailing app that rethinks the experience for older riders — clearer affordances, calmer screens, and quieter flows that account for vision, motor and confidence considerations.

BluSmart Senior Mode hero

Ride-hailing apps tend to assume a baseline of comfort — with maps, with typing, with the confidence that a car will actually arrive. For older riders, those assumptions silently raise the floor of the experience. Senior Mode rebuilds that floor.

The mode lives inside BluSmart's existing app, opted into during onboarding (or by a caregiver), and rewrites the surfaces that matter most: search, booking confirmation, ride status, and the moment of arrival.

Describe the accessibility gaps observed in mainstream ride-hailing apps and the specific senior-rider pains uncovered in research.
Outline the research process — interviews, accessibility audits against WCAG, co-design sessions, and how those fed into the design system additions.

Senior Mode strips the booking surface down to large, high-contrast affordances; replaces sliding-map confirmation with explicit address read-back; and shifts ride-status updates to a slower, narrative cadence that mirrors how a caregiver would describe the journey.

Expand with key screens, copy decisions, and the accessibility primitives added to the design system.
Capture validation results, usability test outcomes, or qualitative testimony from senior riders.
